Fatigue/Low Energy Q&A

What is fatigue?

Fatigue is an overwhelming feeling of tiredness and low energy. While you may feel sleepy, a good night’s rest typically isn’t enough to relieve fatigue. In addition to low energy levels, you may struggle with a lack of motivation, stiffness, pain, and even feelings of depression.

What causes fatigue?

Many different factors can contribute to your energy levels, including your physical health, mental health, lifestyle habits, and diet. Some of the most common causes of fatigue in adults include:

Poor nutrition

Nutritional deficiencies are one of the most common culprits behind fatigue and low energy levels. A comprehensive diet that includes a variety of fruits and vegetables, complex carbohydrates, and lean protein can help you feel healthy and energetic.

Lack of exercise

Poor exercise habits can lead to deconditioning, which makes it more difficult to perform certain physical tasks. When you don’t exercise regularly — at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week — you can feel worn down and exhausted.

Chronic pain

Chronic conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, diabetes, and sleep apnea can cause pain in your muscles and joints. When you experience chronic pain, it may feel difficult to exercise and complete both mental and physical tasks. Over time, chronic pain leads to low energy levels and fatigue.

Mental health problems

Your mental health is just as important in fighting fatigue as your physical health. Fatigue, low energy levels, and lack of motivation are all common symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Are there holistic approaches to treating fatigue?

At Nutritional Wellness, Dr. Granger and his team focus on drug-free, holistic treatments for chronic fatigue. This means identifying misalignments and deficiencies in your body to create a treatment plan that significantly improves your energy levels in a healthy, sustainable way.

Dr. Granger has special training in Nutrition Response Testing®, which pinpoints organs, tissues, and other areas of the body that aren’t functioning as well as they should. The team performs this test by evaluating certain pressure points and reflexes to check the connection of nerves from the brain to the rest of the body.

Once Nutrition Response Testing identifies your nutritional deficiencies, the team can create a nutrition and supplement plan that helps improve your energy levels.

As a chiropractic physician, Dr. Granger also practices a variety of spinal manipulation techniques to restore your body’s natural alignment. He’s highly experienced in the Chiro-Manis treatment, the Gonstead Technique, the activator technique, and more. After your initial evaluation, he can determine which technique works best for you.
